My in-laws were in town last July and they wanted to site see and I was more than happy to oblige. We had gone to Mount Rainier National Park earlier in the week (you can read that blog HERE) so this time we wanted to head downtown since they had never been. So this excursion just ended up being more of a quick one that a full day capturing downtown Seattle. We decided on visiting one of my favorite places in one of my favorite cities in the US.
Public Market Time
We could not have asked for a more perfect day. Gotta love Seattle in the summer. It was sunny and warm with blue skies and a nice cool evening. We were not the only ones who had the idea to head outside but it wasn’t too terrible. Well except maybe the parking. LOL Seattle parking is terrible on a good day.
Seattle’s own Pike Place Market is definitely one of my favorite places to visit. This public market is the world’s largest (or so I’ve heard) outdoor farmers market. It first opened back in 1907 as a way to get fresh produce to consumers without paying such high prices. It has not grown into a multi-level market with everything from seafood, produce, fresh flowers, craft vendors. bakeries, book stores and more. This place also has the world famous Pike Place Fish Market. And yes, this is the place where the guys put on a show and throw the fish!! Entertaining and their seafood is the best around.
Can’t Beat the View
Pike Place backs up to Seattle’s Puget Sound. It is amazing to go out there and just sit especially on a nice sunny and warm day. You can watch the boats go by or just people watch and even peek at the Seahawks home field stadium and the Great Wheel of Seattle. It’s a pretty cool place. Check out some of my favorite pics from that day. Stay tuned for more of my adventures around Washington.
