Sometimes when I have a senior photo session we end up dividing the session into a couple of little sessions. It isn’t common but there are times when it just works better that way. This was one of those times.
Meeting Mom
A few years ago when my son was playing football at Boswell High School he played with a teen named Allen. Allen was a grade younger than my son but they were on the same JV team. One night during a game Allen took a HUGE hit. Like stopped the game kind of hit. Everyone was silent. While the paramedics were on the field, and I was on the sidelines (I was there taking action pics of the players), I could hear the pain Allen was in. His mom was there….being strong and present but letting the paramedics work. I sat there and cried. My mama heart for all these boys was just so worried. I prayed a small prayer that he would be ok. I didn’t know who he was at the time but found out later on due to him being a friend of my son’s.
Allen and his family lived in our neighborhood. I reached out to his mom on Facebook to check in on him. This was the start of our friendship. Elizabeth is kind and funny and I just enjoyed getting to know her. So here we are three years later and Allen is a senior and we are good friends and I love it. Needless to say I was honored to take his pictures this year.
Football Pics
Allen has played football all the years I have known him and probably longer. Football has been such a huge part of his high school journey. He bounced back from his injury his sophomore year and finished the season and went on to play Varsity his senior year. We decided to take some sport portraits to honor that journey.
After high school he is going into the Air Force for welding so we did a quick little welding session too. There was a welding shop across town that let us hang out there and take some pictures. .I thought these pictures came out pretty cool but the football ones did too so I was pretty excited.
Senior Picture Day
Since football season is in the Fall we decided to wait a bit to do his senior pictures and now it’s Spring and graduation is around the corner so we thought we needed to get a move on. LOL It was a fun day and a great location. Since Allen is going into the Air Force we chose Airfield Falls and it was perfect.
Cap & Gown
I don’t know about other high schools but I know the ones in our district don’t usually hand out cap & gowns with the stoles until May so we head up to the high school to do those. We had some fun ideas for that session and I think they came out perfect.
Congratulations Allen on your upcoming graduation!!
Check out some of my favorites from our session.
