I love photography! But most of you who know me, know that already. Newborn and maternity photography is my passion but, really I just love taking pictures. Right now, and last Fall too, I have been photographing my son’s football team (GO SPARTANS) during their games. What a change from portrait photography! I really love it though. It is so fun and challenging and exactly what I needed. I really enjoy trying new things while I learn and grow. New challenges are especially fun when it coincides with photography, not to mention my favorite sport EVER!
Since I have been enjoying this so much I thought I would embark on a little challenge. Something to push me out of my comfort zone a bit too. There are so many photography challenges out there. I found a 365 challenge and I thought, “I could totally do this”……ok, maybe I was getting in over my head. That’s a pretty big commitment and I am not sure if I can do that every day for a year. Maybe if I didn’t have kids and all that goes with that. LOL Maybe once a week is more my speed.
A colleague of mine recommended a 30 day challenge. Once she sent me the list of topics I thought it sounded fun. Some of her friends and colleagues are doing it over on Instagram. I think I will give this one a try. You can follow me over there at @stephanierubyor or you can just check back weekly on my blog to see how things are going. If you are interested in photography, I would love for you to join me in the fun. Just send me a message and I will send you the hashtag and group.
So Day 1 is Rule of Thirds. So for those of you who may not know the rule of thirds basically says that if you take your image and divide it into thirds with lines (vertically and horizontally), placing your subject on an intersecting point makes for better photo composition. Obviously this is not an official rule but it is a great thing to help when you get started for good composition. Some times it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Some rules were meant to be broken after all. Here is my photo for Day 1. Hope you like it. He’s my son, playing a sport we both love….so I am a bit biased. <3 <3
