As 2016 came to a close I realized I completely fell off the wagon, so to speak, for my last photo challenge. YIKES! I had such good intentions. I really did. I think a new picture every day is what got me. Honestly, I just don’t get out of my house with my camera enough so I got a bit overwhelmed. Maybe I just need a life. LOL And well, then the holidays happened and….you know how that goes.
So I decided to do a weekly challenge which may be more my speed. I should be able to do one picture a week. Hopefully. A fellow Motherhood Society member Tara Ruby of Tara Ruby Photography mentioned a 52 Week Challenge which is one picture a week with themes. I told her I would try that one. Maybe since I have someone to do this with she can help me stay accountable. Fingers crossed.
Tara sent me a link to the challenge themes. I’m in trouble. Oh my goodness. If I can do this I will learn a lot this year. Yeah, let’s just go with that.
Week 1: Rule of Thirds – So this week’s challenge isn’t too bad. I know this. I’m still working on my story telling aspect for random images but I am hoping this year I can grow in that department too. As I mentioned in a previous blog, Rule of Thirds is a compositional tool for setting up your focal point in an image that makes it more pleasing to the eye. Rules were meant to be broken but it’s a great place to start.
So here is my image for the week. I chose a winter themed picture. I love winter and I love snow. We had a bit of snow here over New Year’s Eve and it looked so pretty on the trees and houses. Figured I’d grab some shots before it melted. It doesn’t stay long around here.
If you are a photographer and would like to do this with me, I would love to have you join me. I really am looking forward to learning some new techniques this year.
Next week is a technical week. SOOC = Get a good image Straight Out Of the Camera
