Change is never easy. Last year as a family we made the decision to uproot our family and move down south. Now, if any of you know me well you know that I do not like the heat. I am a lover of the snow and all things winter. We didn’t get as much winter as we would have liked living in Washington but we got some which made me happy. When we would get snow, I was in my happy place.
Our Whys
Making a move is never easy. We loved Washington and our lives there. We loved our friends and community and our church. This was not an easy decision for us. It is even harder when you have kids. The biggest reason we moved was because it gets us closer to my mom and stepdad who live in Fort Worth. We wanted to be closer to family for lots of different reasons. And as much as we loved Sammamish we didn’t have family close by.
The other big reason was cost of living. It is so much better down in the Dallas area that it was where we were. We couldn’t wait to buy a house and I could build a studio. Not to mention, give my kids each their own bedroom. This was something we have not been able to do for many years.
Time to Go
We have been down here in the Saginaw area since August 2021. We wanted to get down here before school started for the kids to make the transition a little easier. Leaving all our friends was really hard but we knew that we had made the right decision. We can go back and visit right?
Realizing I was going to need to find all new clients made me sad too. I have the BEST clients and I have been so fortunate to work with such amazing families.
Getting Set Up
So now that we are here and getting settled into our house, it’s time to set up the new studio. Having a designated studio for the first time is super exciting and I can’t wait to get back to work. Covid slowed things down before we left but Texas is a bit more “back to normal” so that’s a good thing.
There is so much work to do getting set up but making things nice and organized is something I love to do. Lol I think a list is where I need to start. From getting my business license and insurance to just getting shelves for my props. The list seems endless but I am excited for the changes to come.
Some New Changes
One thing I am excited to focus on is Senior Photography. It has been a passion of mine and now that I have a senior of my own I am really looking forward to moving in this direction. But do not worry, I still love all my newborns and maternity mamas and plan to continue to offer those sessions as well. Now it is time to find new locations to shoot at in downtown Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. Anyone with any ideas, feel free to send them over. 🙂
While I may be adding a new session type, I will still be offering all my amazing custom made barnwood frames, photoblocks and albums. They are just too beautiful not to!
If you are interested in booking a senior, newborn or maternity session, drop me a note and I would love to chat with you.
