One of my little side hobbies is photographing youth sports. I have been taking pictures of my kids playing football since Jason was 8 years old. It is not really anything I offer with my photography business but it is definitely something I do for fun. Being on the field and working with these kids is really a lot of fun. This was the first time I photographed teens at high school.
Football Season
My son Jason was a junior during the 2023 football season and playing on the Junior Varsity team. I got permission from the head coach to be on the sidelines at all the home and away games and was able to capture him and his teammates playing. As the season wore on, Jason was able to get more and more play time and even ended up winning Offensive MVP for the season. He did so great.
Why I do It
While I love capturing pictures of my son playing, it really brings me so much joy when the other kids start asking for pics and whether or not I caught their “last play”. I usually did and they were excited every week for me to post game pictures. By the end of the season I was photographing both JV teams and uploading the images for the players. It is a TON of work but totally worth it. Not to mention super fun for me. 🙂
