As a photographer there are a ton of things you can do as part of the community. I love getting to know other photographers that are local to me since I do not know too many. As you all know I stock my maternity closet with tons of gowns from Sew Trendy Accessories. I am part of a Facebook group for us Sew Trendy lovers that are local to Washington and a couple of the girls wanted to do a big group shoot out. I jumped on that. It was time for me to get out of my comfort zone and meet some girls and take some pictures so I signed up.
Almost Shooting Day
I think the waiting was the hardest part. LOL I was pretty excited to be a part of this group and be able to photograph some gorgeous mamas. I love shooting maternity. It really just makes my heart happy. And these Sew Trendy dresses are amazing. I love them all and my collection keeps growing. To see my gown gallery click HERE (Password: Dresses)
Shoot Out Weekend is Here
As the planning was going on they chose a couple of different locations over the course of two days. The organizers had some hair and make up gals come in too. Which really makes me think I need to start offering that to my clients! Anyway…the house everyone was staying at was only about 30 minutes from me so I hopped in the car and head down there. I was super nervous since I did not know anyone. At all. One of the organizers is someone I have interacted with online so I was excited to meet her in person. All the gals ended up being so nice. I am so glad that I did this.
Day One
For the first day, we head out to Discovery Park. The sun was shining and the weather was perfect for some gorgeous sunset pics. We had six models who looked so beautiful. It was pretty amazing being surrounded by all these gorgeous mamas and in the presence of so many great photographers. We each had time to walk around and capture each mama in different areas. There was a gorgeous field with wildflowers and the sun in the perfect position. It was just a perfect place for our session.
We left the field and head over to the water’s edge to grab some shots by the Lighthouse. This lighthouse is one of my favorite places. It is situated right on the water’s edge and fenced off. I do not think it is in use any more but I still just love the way it looks and photographs. The sun set behind it and it made for such a lovely backdrop.
Day Two
After a great first day I was super excited to head out again. This time they had decided we would head out to Gold Creek Pond up in the mountains. It was only about 50 minutes from my house and a hidden treasure of a place. First stop, though, was this field on the side of the road. I probably would have driven right by it. In fact I got there first and did! LOL Once we got out and walked literally around a few trees it just opened up to a field of flowers. It was so pretty! No sun though and pretty overcast but I was ok with that. It was perfect and the gals in their dresses just fit in.
Gold Creek Pond was next and I have to say …this is probably someplace I could come and just sit. It was gorgeous. A lake with mountains on all sides and even a snow capped peak in the distance. I will definitely be coming back here.
Finishing Up
I think my favorite thing about this particular couple of days was just getting out, meeting other photographers and just being able to photograph these mamas. They were all beautiful, kind and fun to be around. I am so glad that I did this. Now to get down to the business of sorting through the 600 images I took and pick out the ones I love. I had a feeling it was going to be a lot. Hope you liked some of my favorite images from our Sew Trendy ShootOut.
