One thing I had not done is a maternity session with a mom having twins, much less a progression series. So when this mama crossed my path I jumped at the chance to photograph her and meet her sweet babies.
Getting Ready
After I saw a photo of this mama, I had an idea of what colors I thought would look good on her but I wanted her to choose. I am happy to say that the images she choose were exactly what I had in mind. She has gorgeous dark hair and eyes that sparkle when she lets her awesome sense of humor show. This mama also told me she was up for anything and I have to say I love that. I had an idea I wanted t use.
Session Day(s)
When Shannon showed up I knew we would be fast friends, She was outgoing and kind but had a sense of humor that I could really relate to. She is real and down to earth. I enjoyed our sessions so much. We decided to do a second trimester and a third trimester maternity session and one last one with the babies when they arrived. It would be perfect.
Since she was feeling a bit daring we decided to have her use just a towel for one of the set ups. I love it when mamas see being pregnant as beautiful and are ok showing that off. We, of course, covered up the lady bits but let her beautiful belly shine. The pictures turned out better than I expected and I could not have been happier. I photographed her in a few more dresses to complete our sessions on the maternity side.
Babies Have Arrived
When the girls made their appearance, we decided to break up the session into two parts. We would photograph the babies by themselves first and do the progression part another day. Photographing one newborn is hard enough but twins can be a bit more time consuming. I wanted to make sure we could relax and get our best from them. Stay Tuned for my blog post with just the girls but check out some images from this gorgeous maternity progression photo shoot.
